Welcome to Away We Stray
This is me. My name is Cassy. I’m the trouble-maker who designed this site for you to laugh at (or with, preferably). I don’t quite know where I’ll be next Tuesday, much less next year….so:
If you love spontaneity, are curious about other cultures, or generally love travel, you will fit right in here! I launched Away We Stray to help connect a community of wanderlust-driven nomads with everything travel-related. Whether you are interested in discovering adrenaline-fueled adventures abroad, or getting a locals’ view of fashion tastes, Away We Stray aims to tie people together from all over the world.
I got my first taste of travel at 14, when I spent a summer on a People to People program across Europe. Even at that young age, I was a trouble maker….ditching my sponsoring organization to attempt to see the Eiffel Tower light show before catching a plane at dawn back home. I’ve finally decided to document all the awesome, note-worthy, or downright stupid things I do, as well as help you find hidden gems in any area you might find yourself in one day.
I began my nomadic life shortly after college. Since then I have visited 7 countries and have lived on both American coasts, as well as Las Vegas, and then jumped ship to Tokyo, Japan! I taught English for a year before backpacking across Asia the remainder of 2016. I’m now headed to complete my scuba certifications in Thailand, and then I’m leaving for a year-and-a-half long expedition through Central and South America. I hope I don’t get sick of beans and rice.
As a recovering party-addict, I originally started traveling to experience the parties around the globe. I mean….why else move to Las Vegas? But the appeal of travel has morphed into experiencing the extreme and the unique. The Quixotic. The Strange. My life has centered itself around adventure, culture, and a yearning for new experiences. And, I’m here to share it all with you. Make sure you subscribe to my news letter to stay in touch.
My Travel Goals
I have the next 15 months planned out, packed with travel..and the only reason I have stopped there is to save room for spontaneity, the dessert of travel. I’ll be posting about S.E. Asia, and primarily about Central and South America this next year.
My wanderlust only grows stronger as I seek out the strange, the dangerous, and the entertaining. My goal is to share my experience with you, so you can easily partake in the adventure. I’m here to share budget plans, travel tutorials, and crazy experiences as I check them off my Bucket List.
